The Sentara Leigh, Sentara Norfolk General and Sentara Heart Hospital gift shops are always looking for new, energetic volunteers like Jackie Pace, pictured, an Auxiliary member who volunteers at both Leigh and Norfolk General. For information on volunteering, stop into one of the gift shops or call (757) 388-3027.

Sentara Williamsburg Regional Medical Center Auxiliary held an installation ceremony for the 2008 Auxiliary Executive Board on February 6, at the Auxiliary’s annual luncheon. Guest speakers included Dr. Lindy Dunn, a diagnostic radiologist, and Dr. Ron Kersh, a radiation oncologist, who shared current statistics on breast and prostate cancer and stressed the need for annual screenings and preventive measures. The Auxiliary recently accepted a donation of an electric golf cart from the Kingsmill Honorable Ancient Order of Ball Hawks. Manned by a dedicated staff of volunteers, the cart shuttles visitors, patients and staff in all kinds of weather and helps support the hospital's mission to protect the environment since it runs on an alternative energy source.

Sentara Bayside Hospital/Sentara Princess Anne Auxiliary and volunteers will be honored during National Volunteer Week at an Awards Luncheon on April 30 at the Airport Hilton Hotel. Sentara Bayside Hospital is celebrating 28,000 volunteer hours donated during 2007. Staff are very proud of the hours given to the hospital. The Auxiliary is funding a few projects involving customer service excellence called "The Heart of Bayside.”
