After months of preparation, hard work and training, the launch of the Sentara eCare Health Network® at Sentara Leigh Hospital at midnight on February 24, 2008, went smoothly and was a success for the entire system. During the first weeks after the launch, many Sentara Leigh employees voiced their enthusiasm for the new system and gave personal accounts of their experiences. With the launch of Sentara eCare Health Network®, several Sentara Medical Group physician practices installed a new Electronic Medical Records system (EMR) during fall 2007. At least 10 practices and 55 physicians are currently using the new system, with more going live each month. During the remainder of 2008, plans include bringing Sentara eCare® and the EMR to another 29 Sentara Medical Group practices and 134 physicians. Stay tuned to Network for more updates.
