Sentara CarePlex Hospital Hopes to Add Operating Room
Due to a high volume of surgeries and the increased length of surgeries, Sentara CarePlex Hospital has submitted a letter of intent to the Virginia Department of Health to add an additional operating room. If approved, this project would bring Sentara CarePlex from 8 to 9 general operating rooms on the hospital campus.

Imaging COPN Applications Receive Recommendations of Approval
Sentara has recently received Certificate of Public Need recommendations of approval from the State Division of Certificate of Public Need and from the Eastern Virginia Health Systems Agency for its two imaging applications:
the relocation of the existing mobile MRI and CT services from the North Suffolk Family Medicine office to Sentara BelleHarbour
the addition of an extremity MRI unit at Sentara Leigh’s Advanced Imaging Center.

Sentara Obici Debuts Ambulatory Surgery Center
A new Ambulatory Surgery Center ― a jointly owned venture between Sentara Obici Hospital and the 20 physicians who will practice there ― opened February 1, 2008 adjacent to the hospital. The 22,900 sq. ft. facility with two operating rooms and two procedure rooms will operate separately from the hospital. All procedures done at the facility will be elective procedures and may include: anesthesia cases, general surgery, gynecologic and obstetric surgery (no deliveries), orthopedic surgery, hand surgery, pain procedures, and eye procedures.
