Celebrating Sentara’s Heritage
Did you ever wonder how Sentara Healthcare got its start? Well, now you can find out. An overview of Sentara’s history will be unveiled on www.sentara.com soon. The complete overview includes a slide show of historical images and Sentara milestones dating date back to 1888, when the 25-bed Retreat for the Sick, the forerunner to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, opened in downtown Norfolk. It also features PDF files that provide in-depth time lines of Sentara’s history, Optima Health’s history and medical innovations at Sentara from 2000 to the present.
Passport Health Offers Employees Family Discount
Whether you are traveling for business or pleasure or not traveling at all, Passport Health wants to keep members of the community, and Sentara employees and their families, safe and healthy. This comprehensive, one-stop travel health service, in place at Sentara since 1999, offers immunizations for international travel, travel counseling, personalized reports on travel destinations outlining safety and security, travel insurance, and a full line of hard-to-find travel supplies. Sentara employees and their immediate family members receive a 20% discount off all office visits and immunizations (there is no discount on products). A wide array of immunizations is available including: Hepatitis A vaccine, Gardisil, Influenza vaccine, Meningitis vaccine, Zostavax, Rabies and Pneumococcal. Sentara Physicians Anticipate eCare Health Network
Training our staff and Physician Practices is approaching, with Emergency Department staff on the Peninsula scheduled for Phase I training from June 4-23. Sentara physicians are looking forward to having eCare online as early as this summer as it will transform the way they deliver care and maintain patients’ electronic medical records.
