Sentara's Remote eICU Monitoring Featured in BusinessWeek

BusinessWeek article and Podcast covers how remote patient monitoring lets fewer specialists provide more attentive care

Norfolk, VA. - June 16, 2006 - A BusinessWeek story on remote patient monitoring features Sentara's eICU technology. Through an elaborate network of cameras, monitors, and two-way communication links, doctors and critical care nurses at the eICU command center make virtual rounds of patients.

"The Doctor Is (Plugged) In" covers Sentara's implementation and outcomes for its eICU program, now installed at all seven Sentara hospitals. In two ICUs, deaths fell 27% the first year Sentara had the eICU system up.
