July 31st, 2006 – Virginia Beach – Sentara Living will host a Senior Health Fair at Bayside Presbyterian Church in Virginia Beach on Tuesday, August 22nd from 10:00AM to 12:30PM. The church is located at 1400 Ewell Road.
Sentara Living is a free membership program offered through Sentara’s Community Health and Prevention division that encourages seniors to live well, meet interesting people and join in activities that promote a healthy lifestyle. Benefits of membership include health screenings, educational forums, a quarterly newsletter and opportunities to socialize and travel. Currently there are 4,740 members in south Hampton Roads and the Peninsula.
Health Screenings, Services featured
The 2006 Senior Health Fair will offer free screenings for cholesterol, blood pressure, bone density and skin damage from the sun. Sentara Home Care Services will offer free File of Life packages and chaplains will assist with Advance Medical Directive registry.
Other providers will offer free glaucoma screenings, dental products and financial planning advice. The Virginia Beach Police and Fire Departments will offer safety displays and information. There will also be a wealth of health-related educational materials.
Free refreshments included, plus gift bags and door prizes.
