Norfolk, VA – July 31, 2007 – Mary Blunt, President of Sentara Life Care, has been elected to the American Hospital Association’s Board of Trustees.
Blunt currently chairs the AHA Governing Council for Long-Term Care and Rehabilitation, on which she has served since 2004.
“I am honored to be elected to this post at such a critical time for health care,” Blunt says. “Serving on the policy-making body of the American Hospital Association is a great responsibility, especially with America’s health care system so much on the public’s agenda during the current presidential campaign.”
As President of Sentara Life Care, Blunt oversees seven nursing centers, three assisted living centers, Adult Day Care (PACE) and Mobile Meals programs, plus rehabilitation services at four Sentara hospitals. She has been with Sentara for 16 years.
Blunt follows in the footsteps of Sentara CEO David Bernd, who served as Chair of the AHA Board of Trustees during the 2004-2005 term. Blunt will assume her two-year position in January 2008 and serve through 2010.
