Robert Firestone named Sentara BelleHarbour Director

Western Tidewater Campus to Open June 2

April 24, 2008 - Suffolk, VA - Sentara Healthcare announced that Robert Firestone has been selected as the Director of Sentara BelleHarbour, a new state-of-the art medical campus set to open June 2, 2008, on Bridge Road in Suffolk. 

Prior to being named director of the campus, Firestone served as manager of patient care services for the Sentara Norfolk General Hospital Inpatient Rehab Unit. He was also responsible for planning and implementation of additional satellite acute rehabilitation units in the region. Firestone joined Sentara in 2005 as an administrative fellow and worked on economic impact projects.

“Robert’s proven expertise in operational start-ups and physician relations were driving factors in his selection,” said Kurt T. Hofelich, vice president Sentara Healthcare. “He will continue to provide strong leadership for Sentara Healthcare at its newest facility in Western Tidewater,” Hofelich said. 

A highly experienced executive, Firestone earned a bachelor’s degree in environmental health science from Purdue University, certificate in clinical laboratory science from the Medical College of Georgia, and master’s degrees in business administration and health care administration from the University of Minnesota. He is a certified clinical laboratory scientist and member of the American College of Healthcare Executives and Healthcare Financial Management Association.
