Third Annual Camp Lighthouse- A Camp for Children Dealing with Grief
A Beacon of Hope for Grieving Children
Camp Lighthouse is a camp for children dealing with grief. Hosted by Sentara Hospice, this camp is a safe place where feelings of grief can be expressed without having to worry about the reactions of others. Trained professionals and volunteers help children and their families explore issues related to grief, walking beside them as they take the steps needed to heal. By sharing their grief with others, children and adults begin to let it go.
Who can attend Camp Lighthouse? Children ages 5 to 16, with age specific groups planned for children 5 to 12, and teens 13 to 16, who have experienced the death of a close family member or friend within the past two years. Parents and caregivers are also encouraged to participate.
