Ken joined Sentara in 1990 as Chaplain for the Emergency Department at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. In 1995 Ken became the Chaplain for Sentara Bayside and Sentara Leigh Hospitals, then in May 2000, accepted the position of Team Coordinator for Chaplaincy Services and returned to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.
Chaplain Veazey led in the development of the Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) Team for the Southside Hospitals and facilitated the task force that developed the Bereavement Aftercare materials provided to families following the death of a patient in one of our hospitals.
Chaplain Veazey is a Board Certified Chaplain of the Association of Professional Chaplains and is endorsed for chaplaincy by the American Baptist Churches of the USA. He holds his Master of Divinity from Southern Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky and his Doctor of Ministry from Union Theological Seminary in Richmond, Virginia. He completed his Clinical Pastoral Education residency at MCV Hospitals in Richmond, Virginia.
Ken enjoys teaching and is an approved CISM Trainer by the International Critical Incident Stress Foundation, Inc. He is also a member of the Tidewater Emergency Services CISM Team, which provides stress support services to the public safety community.
