At Sentara, we are concerned about our patients and their families. We understand that health care expenses are often unexpected and paying for services can be overwhelming. This is especially true if you do not have health insurance.
Patient Discount Program
Sentara has developed a discount program to help our patients who do not have health insurance. This program provides significant discounts for uninsured patients who meet certain financial criteria. This discount program is in addition to our charity programs for patients with income below 200% of the federal poverty level.
Who is eligible for the discount?
All patients without health insurance will qualify for the discount program. The amount of the discount depends on family income, number of dependents and the amount of the bill. The amount of the discount ranges from 15% to 60%. The discount does not apply to co-payments and deductibles from Medicare, Medicaid, Champus or other health insurance companies.
Who do I call to get the discount?
Please contact our self-pay discount unit at 757-233-4600. Someone will be available to assist you Monday – Thursday, from 8:00 AM – 7:00 PM or Friday from 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM. The discount will be given after we receive proof of income (ex: pay stubs, tax forms).
What happens to the rest of my bill?
You will need to pay the remaining balance of the bill in a timely manner. Our self-pay discount representatives will be happy to assist you with payment options.
