Ground Transportation
The Norfolk International Airport is located less than 10 miles from Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. Visitors to Hampton Roads have several options for ground transportation: taxi service, rental car, shuttle service, or transport by a van provided by the hotel where you will stay.
Choosing what is best for you depends on whether you are coming alone and simply need a ride from the airport to your lodging, or whether family members will accompany you and need continuing or occasional transportation while you are a patient in the hospital.
Hampton Roads Transit buses do not serve the Norfolk International Airport terminal area. HRT public transportation service is available outside the airport property and in the Hampton Roads area.
International visitors who plan to drive in the United States need to make arrangements in their home country for an International Driving Permit and to bring it with them. Each car rental company has its own set of requirements; if you select a company before you come to the United States, you will be able to see which documents are required by that company and can gather all the necessary papers before you come.
