Home Medical Equipment
A patient's readjustment to daily living at home can be facilitated by a wide variety of products we provide to help with comfort and mobility. Products offered include hospital beds, bedside commodes, bath/shower accessories, electrical stimulation units (CPM/TENS) and other patient aids. Patients needing specialized equipment during their recovery may also choose a complete inventory of wheelchairs, sophisticated adaptive equipment, and specialty seating systems.
Staff Support and Education
When we deliver medical equipment to a patient’s home, our team of professional technicians, therapists and nursing staff step in to teach, guide and assist. They provide education for the patient and caregiver about the disease process, proper use of the equipment and tips to avoid problems. Our medical and respiratory staff is available 24 hours a day.
Our exceptional team is made up of carefully selected and screened professionals who provide the same high quality care that physicians and patients alike have come to expect from Sentara. You can be confident that our staff treats patients and family members with the utmost care and respect.
We work directly with physicians and hospital case managers and discharge planners to ensure a smooth transition from hospital or skilled care to home. A staff professional meets with and/or assesses the needs of the patient with respect to the equipment ordered. Patients and equipment are continually monitored to ensure that it is timely and up to date.
Service and Repair Programs
We provide service and repair for all our rental equipment, as well as for our patients' personally owned equipment.
We offer equipment and supplies for both home medical and rehabilitation needs:

Power Wheelchairs
The power wheelchairs (PDF file) distributed by Sentara Home Care Services have been thoughtfully designed and constructed. Each manufacturer has taken great care to ensure a stable, smooth and comfortable ride. Our staff of experienced home medical equipment professionals will help you evaluate which vehicle would serve you best.
Features of Power Wheelchairs:
Top speed of 6.0 mph center wheel drive technology allows for an increased amount of power as an advantage over comparable designs.
True center wheel drive makes the chair more intuitive to control by positioning the user directly over the drive wheels. A smaller turning radius is achieved with this design.
Constant contact coasters maintains the chair’s stability going up and down inclines, such as ramps.
Overland suspension system enables you to climb obstacles up to 2.5 inches and offers the most comfortable ride in the industry by providing independent suspension for all four casters.
Optional extended range package provides the freedom to go farther with increased battery capacity up to 30 percent versus the standard battery option.
Optional readi-align front casters ensures front caster alignment to navigate obstacles with ease.
Armrest height adjustment for comfort and tool free adjustment.

Benefits of medical nutrition therapy include:
Optimization of nutritional status
Prevention or minimization of specific nutritional deficiencies
Implementation of a healthy weight loss or weight gain program
