What is Physical Therapy?

If an injured athlete requires the services of a physical therapist, he/she can expect to be assessed in the areas of:
Posture
Gait
Range of motion
Strength
Joint mobility

A specific, individualized treatment plan is developed for the injured athlete based on the findings of the initial assessment. Treatments may include modalities to decrease pain or muscle tightness, therapeutic exercises for stretching or strengthening of specific muscle groups, restorative manual techniques, and education in a home program.
