Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital

Coastal Cancer Center

The Coastal Cancer Center (CCC) at Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital offers comprehensive services and technology to diagnose and treat cancer as well as educate the community and provide free screenings. The CCC is the area's only facility offering photodynamic therapy (PDT) - a non-invasive treatment for lung and esophageal cancers. The CCC offers additional services including a class for newly diagnosed cancer patients and their caregivers to help them deal with their diagnosis and treatment. Art therapy and support groups (i.e. breast cancer, general cancer, and prostate cancer) are also offered.

The Breast Cancer Center, where newly diagnosed breast cancer patients can be seen by a medical oncologist and radiation oncologist on the same day at the same location, provides patients with a comprehensive treatment plan. The Coastal Cancer Resource Center provides free resources for cancer patients and their families including books, tapes and internet access to the National Cancer Institute.
