disease or cancer care, the Thoracic Oncology Program at Sentara Leigh Hospital is dedicated to providing high quality, state-of-the-art surgical care that is responsive to the whole patient, including physical, emotional and spiritual needs.
The thoracic surgeons at Sentara Leigh Hospital perform a wide variety of thoracic procedures for esophageal, chest and lung disorders. They use the latest in surgical techniques, procedures and instrumentation, for optimal patient outcomes.
A multidisciplinary team will be involved with every patient and may include thoracic surgeons, pathologists, medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, pulmonologists, anesthesiologists, patient navigators, nurses, respiratory therapists, physical and occupational therapists, social workers, chaplains and nutritionists. Biweekly multidisciplinary conferences are held to discuss patient plans of care for many of our patients. We will provide new patient consultations within one week of referral and timely communications with referring physicians in regards to plans of care, surgery, hospital course, pathology and follow-up.
Most importantly, you can depend on long-term follow-up by our surgeons as part of your clinical team.
