Emergency Services at Sentara RMH Medical Center

Life happens, and sometimes it throws you a curve ball. When it does, you need to think fast. Statistics prove that immediate access to quality care makes a lifesaving difference for patients. The Sentara RMH Emergency Department is responsible for the immediate treatment of any medical or surgical emergency, for initiating life-saving procedures in all types of emergency situations, and for providing emergency care for everything from complex medical problems to minor injuries and illnesses.

The Sentara RMH Emergency Department treats an average of 200 patients per day, with annual visits of more than 73,000. Some patients are treated in the main ED, while others with minor illnesses or injuries that generally require less time are treated in the Fast Track area. ED patients are treated in order of priority, based upon a triage assessment performed by an RN.

If you are having a life-threatening emergency, call 911 immediately.
