Sentara Reference Laboratory, the region's only full-service reference laboratory, is part of Sentara Healthcare and operates six hospital based laboratories, one ambulatory care center laboratory, dedicated Patient Service Centers and supports a wide range of physician offices, clinics, businesses, schools and insurance providers in Hampton Roads. All of our laboratory facilities are accredited by the College of American Pathologists, the Virginia Department of Health, and the Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCHAO). In addition, Transfusion Services and Histocompatibility / Immunology are accredited by the American Association of Blood Banks (AABB) and the American Society of Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics (ASHI), respectively.
