As the region's leader in home infusion therapy for the past two decades, Sentara Home Care Services delivers high-quality infusion care to our patients in the comfort and privacy of their own homes.
Our local pharmacists and nursing staff ― available 24- hours-a-day, seven days-a-week ― are poised to respond quickly and efficiently when physicians order intravenous medications for patients with acute and chronic illnesses.
Sentara's home infusion care is based on meticulous clinical protocols and procedures that have been proven to enhance our patients quality of life, as well as decrease hospital admissions and emergency room visits.
Our Team
The Sentara infusion team is made up of carefully selected and screened professionals who provide the same high-quality care that physicians and patients alike have come to expect from Sentara. The infusion team includes: an infusion medical director, doctors of pharmacy (PharmDs), certified registered nurses of infusion (CRNIs), a registered dietitian and a medical social worker.
Infusion Suite
The Infusion Suite is also used for schedule placement of Venous Access Devices, including Midline and PICC catheters, which are done using ultrasound technology. Sentara Home Care accommodates medication infusions for patients that need flexibility, or for medications requiring one-on-one medical monitoring during infusion. Referral acceptance to the Infusion Suite is dependent on pre-authorization from the insurance company. The suite is staffed by infusion nurses who are experts in their field. Hours of operation are Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.
