If you’ve come to a point where knee or hip pain has reduced your quality of life, it may be time to consider joint replacement surgery.
Perhaps walking, shopping, taking part in hobbies or doing housework has become difficult or even unbearable. Conservative measures such as diet, exercise and medications may no longer provide relief or alleviate your pain.
Sentara has developed the Sentara OrthoJoint Center to assist you with navigating joint replacement surgery. The Sentara OrthoJoint Center brings together a team of experienced surgeons with caring and specially trained nurses, therapists and technicians.
Our goal is to provide seamless, coordinated orthopedic care and get you back to your favorite activities as soon as possible after joint replacement surgery.
Six Sentara hospitals now have a designated specialized area just for the care of our knee and hip replacement patients.
Surgeons also offer anterior hip replacement, known as the JIFFY HIP*.
Staff members at Sentara OrthoJoint Center locations have been hand-picked for their positive attitudes, motivational skills and desire to provide outstanding service.
Patients will be assigned an orthopedic patient navigator to serve as their personal connection while they plan for, undergo and recover from joint replacement surgery.
Family members are encouraged to participate in group activities, meals and other events as the patient recovers.
Exercise and therapy are provided in a group setting so that patients can support and encourage each other throughout recovery following joint replacement surgery.
Comprehensive patient education programs are offered throughout a patient's care.
