SVP, Acute Care Market President, Southeast Market – Norfolk

Joanne Inman oversees acute care for the Southeast Market – Virginia Beach. This market includes Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital (Virginia Beach, Va.), Sentara Princess Anne Hospital (Virginia Beach, Va.), and Sentara Albemarle Medical Center (Elizabeth City, N.C.).

Prior Experience

Joanne Inman became president of Sentara Leigh Hospital in July 2016, a 274-bed acute care hospital in Norfolk, Virginia. The campus is home to the region’s busiest emergency department, as well as the Sentara Brock Cancer Center and boasts a $129M replacement hospital project completed in 2016. Under her leadership, the continued growth of the hospital led to subsequent expansions to the ER, Family Maternity Center, outpatient and inpatient services.

From 2012 to 2016, Joanne was the Vice President of Operations at Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital, where her oversight included surgery, imaging, emergency, and trauma services as well as facility operations with supervision of 480 employees. Joanne previously served as Director of Patient Care Services at Sentara Leigh from 2005 through 2012 leading service line development in oncology and orthopedics.

Joanne has more than 20 years of healthcare leadership experience, leading both hospital and enterprise initiatives. Joanne currently leads Sentara’s enterprise-wide Length of Stay improvement program. She previously led the High Performance Team for Emergency Medicine, the High Performance Team for Women’s Health, the Sentara Cancer Network's breast cancer program, and initiated the system's Behavioral Health Service Line.
