Jonathan Davis, FACHE, is the President of Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital. As President, Davis has focused his efforts on advancing the Caring Tradition by creating a “Culture of Always” and recruiting an extraordinarily talented multidisciplinary team of nurses and physicians.
Prior to joining Sentara in 2015, Davis served as President of Methodist Charlton Medical Center in Dallas. Under Davis’ leadership, the hospital served five city rescue squads, treated 87,000 ER patients in 2014, grew to provide robotic surgery and cardiothoracic surgery, opened a new 128-bed tower including a 69-bed long-term care unit and adding a 14-bed hospice unit, all caring for more patients year-over-year. Davis’ tenure also includes two President & CEO appointments in community based hospitals, both rural and larger metropolitan areas, of which were part of the largest faith-based health systems in the United States (Ascension Health and Catholic Health Initiatives).
The core of Davis is his passion for patient care, specifically his desire to partner and engage the community, medical staff and employees in a journey to define and deliver safe and reliable best-in-class care to each and every patient. Davis serves on the Sentara Quality Care Network, a clinically integrated network focused on improving quality and access while reducing cost of care across the region. Davis is the administrative lead of a High Performance Team focused on a commitment to excellence in surgical outcomes ensuring Sentara 12 community hospitals always provide safe care to patients.
A native of Little Rock, Ark., Davis earned a B.S. in Physiology from Arkansas State University, a Masters in Physiology from Northern Arizona University and a Masters in Public Healthcare Administration from Tulane University and the University of Arkansas Medical School. Additionally, he is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives.
Davis is supported by his wife Janet and his children Andrew, Sydney and Caroline.
