Rita A. Bunch, MPH, FACHE, is interim President of Sentara CarePlex Hospital in Hampton, Virginia and its subsidiary Sentara Port Warwick.
Sentara CarePlex Hospital is a 224-bed hospital that offers advanced surgical programs, emergency cardiac intervention and fellowship-trained physicians. Additionally, it is a Certified Primary Stroke Center, is home to the Orthopaedic Hospital at Sentara CarePlex Hospital – the area’s first dedicated orthopedic hospital – and recently achieved Magnet Excellence. Sentara CarePlex Hospital is also introducing maternity services in January, 2018.
Before her transition to the interim President role, Rita served as the Vice President of Operations at Sentara CarePlex Hospital. Rita has more than 19 years of healthcare leadership experience. Her previous experience includes serving as the Chief Operating Officer at Mercy Health West Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio. Prior to that, she was the Vice President of Operations at High Point Regional Health in High Point, North Carolina. Her additional experience at High Point and other facilities includes serving as the director of medical and risk services, health care improvement, accreditation, quality and compliance.
Bunch holds a Bachelor of Science in Health Care Administration degree and a Master of Public Health degree from East Tennessee State University.
