Stephen D. Porter is the Corporate Vice President of Sentara Healthcare, Northern Virginia Region and the President of Sentara Northern Virginia Medical Center, a 183-bed, not-for-profit hospital in Prince William County, Virginia. He has been a dedicated member of the Sentara team for more than 18 years, bringing with him a strong commitment to the mission as well as the healthcare knowledge and experience to achieve further success in Northern Virginia.
With experience in the insurance and care coordination industries, Porter has served in several leadership roles in the health plan and hospital divisions since joining Sentara Healthcare.
Porter served as President of Sentara Princess Anne Hospital, as well as President of Sentara Princess Anne Ambulatory Surgery Management, LLC, an ambulatory surgery joint venture between Sentara Healthcare and community surgeons. As President of Sentara Princess Anne Hospital, he was responsible for the development and executive leadership of the 72-acre comprehensive healthcare facility including hospital and medical office buildings in Virginia Beach, Virginia. He was also responsible for leading the development of the Sentara care delivery network and model of care that is being utilized to support the management of senior populations throughout Hampton Roads.
