When you call the Nurse Advice Line, a registered nurse will assess your medical situation, make personalized recommendations about where to seek care, and, if appropriate, suggest self–care options.
By providing immediate support regardless of the time, the Nurse Advice Line helps patients make informed healthcare decisions, said Cheryl Weimer, senior director of nursing and patient care services for Sentara Medical Group.
“The Nurse Advice Line ensures that patients get the right level of care at a location that meets their needs,” said Weimer.

These nurses come from diverse nursing backgrounds including emergency medicine, critical care, cardiology, surgery, orthopedics, pediatrics, labor and delivery, behavioral health, vascular, and neurology. Our nurses are ready to accept any call they receive.
Currently the Nurse Advice Line team works closely with Sentara Medical Group primary care and pulmonary practices. The Nurse Advice Line will expand to more Sentara Medical Group specialties through 2026.
