Sentara’s leadership has changed in recent months based on our new operating model. Here are our latest updates:

CEO Council updates

• Michael Hooper, M.D., has been promoted from Senior Vice President and Chief Medical and Academic Officer to Executive Vice President and Chief Clinical Officer.

Leader promotions

• Robin Anderson, M.D., has been promoted from Executive Director of Medical Operations to Vice President and Chief Medical Officer of Primary Care.
• Garrett Blair has been promoted from Senior Director of Clinical Process Improvement to Vice President of Quality Improvement and Quality Programs.
• Rachel Carr has been promoted from Director of Finance to Ambulatory Chief Finance Officer.
• Joseph Gressens, M.D., has been promoted from Clinical Chief of Pulmonary, Critical Care, and Sleep Medicine to Vice President and Chief Medical Officer of Medical Specialties.
• Gregory Kim, M.D., has been promoted from Clinical Chief of General Surgery with Sentara Medical Group to Vice President and Chief Medical Officer of Surgical Specialties.
• Jessica Lowder has been promoted from Vice President of Operations at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital to Vice President and Chief of Staff to President and Chief Executive Officer Dennis Matheis.
• Rebecca McMahan has been promoted from Executive Director of Business Operations for Primary Care and Medical Specialties in Hampton Roads, Virginia, to Vice President of Business Operations for Primary Care and Medical Specialties in Hampton Roads.
• Bailey Myers has been promoted from Senior Director of Operations at Sentara Leigh Hospital to Vice President of Operations at Sentara Princess Anne Hospital.
• Jennifer Smiley-Gill has been promoted from Executive Director of Business Operations – Hospital-Based Specialties Northwest Region to Vice President of Business Operations – Hospital-Based Specialties Northwest Region.
• Erick Vitug has been promoted from Senior Director of the Neuroscience and Orthopedic Services Lines to Vice President of the Neuroscience and Orthopedic Service Lines.
• Jeff Wills has been promoted from Director of Security at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital to Director of Enterprise Security.
• Jason Wilson, M.D., has been promoted from Oncology Service Line Medical Director to Clinical Chief of Sentara Surgical Specialists.

• Russ Coville, III, has joined Sentara as Vice President and Chief Data Officer.
