Sentara Norfolk General Hospital earns Top 25 national ranking in Urology in 2020 U.S. News & World Report Best Hospitals edition
Sentara Norfolk General Hospital (SNGH) is ranked the No. 1 hospital in Hampton Roads and earned a Top 25 national ranking in Urology in the 2020 U.S. News & World Report’s “Best Hospitals” edition. The success of the Urology program is in conjunction with Urology of Virginia, Eastern Virginia Medical School (EVMS) and the Sentara Cancer Network.
Sentara Norfolk General Hospital is tied for No. 5 in the Commonwealth of Virginia and was also recognized for its several high-performing specialty programs including Pulmonology and Lung Surgery, and Nephrology.

Sentara Norfolk General Hospital is the Hampton Roads region’s only adult Level 1 trauma center and is home to the Nightingale Regional Air Ambulance.
Additionally, Sentara Leigh Hospital is ranked the No. 2 hospital in Hampton Roads and tied for No. 9 in Virginia with recognition for the success of its high-performing Orthopedics program. Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital also received a state ranking and is tied for No. 12 in Virginia.
Urology program nationally ranked for the first time since 2012
The Urology program at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital (SNGH) is ranked No. 23 in the nation due to the great partnership and collaboration with Urology of Virginia and EVMS. Urology services include expert treatment methods for kidney stones to complex bladder surgery, robotic surgery for prostate, kidney and bladder cancers, green light therapy for enlarged prostate, and the Sentara-EVMS Comprehensive Pelvic Floor Center.

The Urology program at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital is also part of the nationally accredited Sentara Cancer Network and treats patients with several different cancer types affecting those areas. Sentara Norfolk General Hospital last received a national ranking for Urology in 2012.
