Sentara partners with Virginia Ready to support education and skill training
Sentara Healthcare is leveraging community partnerships to provide education, training and other services that promote stability within the communities we serve.
Sentara is proud to partner with Virginia (VA) Ready, a public non-profit created in response to a surge in unemployment caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. VA Ready is focused on retraining Virginia’s workforce to enter new roles in high-growth sectors.
VA Ready brings together over 20 leading companies across the Commonwealth, the Virginia Community College System (VCCS) and the Commonwealth’s existing FastForward Workforce Credential Program to re-equip recently out-of-work Virginians with the skills they need to succeed at in-demand jobs. VA Ready provides registered VA Ready Scholars a $1,000 Credential Achievement Award upon obtaining a final certificate in 31 selected training programs. The award, in combination with FastForward’s two-third tuition support, allows VA Ready Scholars to be re-trained without further financial burden.
Developing skilled careers is a focus area within Sentara’s corporate social responsibility program. As a corporate partner, Sentara will, among other roles, participate on VA Ready’s Talent Task Force to evolve curricula for VA Ready Scholars, engage our workforce in future mentoring programs, and support awareness and education activities for VA Ready.
Together, we can make a lasting impact by creating a more resilient workforce.
