Eight Sentara hospitals have earned either a 5-star CMS rating or a 4-star CMS rating from the 2024 Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) Overall Hospital Quality Star Rating. The national average among all rated hospitals is three stars.
All Sentara hospitals have earned DNV Accreditation, which upholds regulatory requirements for hospitals, such as US Government's Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) and provides guidance and best practices for clinical specialty organizations across healthcare.

In 2024, Forbes named Sentara Health one of America’s Best-In-State Employers, recognizing the organization as a preferred place to work based on evaluations from employees and community members.

U.S. News & World Report has ranked Sentara hospitals in multiple “Best Hospital” categories, and received recognition as “High Performing” in several specialties, procedures, and conditions.
