Five Sentara Hospitals consistently earn 'A' grade for patient safety
Maintaining the highest possible ratings since grading began in 2012
Five Sentara hospitals have consistently earned an ‘A’ grade in Hospital Safety Scores from The Leapfrog Group since the organization began handing out the letter grades in 2012. Only seven hospitals in the commonwealth of Virginia have achieved this.
The Leapfrog Group assigns letter grades to hospitals based on publicly available patient safety data twice per year. Seven hospitals in Virginia have achieved an ‘A’ rating in all of these updates, totaling to 14 consecutive grading periods. Five of those are the following Sentara hospitals:
Sentara CarePlex Hospital (Hampton)
Sentara Leigh Hospital (Norfolk)
Sentara Obici Hospital (Suffolk)
Sentara Princess Anne Hospital (Virginia Beach)
Only 32 percent of the nation’s hospitals earned an ‘A’ grade in the Spring 2019 grading scores. Virginia ranks second in the country for highest rated hospitals based on patient safety and quality measures with 35 hospitals achieving an ‘A’.
