Torie Bashay Assumes Role in Halifax
Sentara Halifax Regional Hospital has named Torie Bashay, MSHRM, BSN, RN, NE-BC as the VP of Patient Care Service/Chief Nurse Executive, a role previously held by Patricia Thomas, RN, MSN for more than 37 years. Bashay comes to the South Boston/Halifax community from Hampton, VA where she worked for Sentara CarePlex Hospital.
“I have held various leadership positions over the past 34 years including, Chief Nurse for the Department of Defense and Practice Manager for Children Hospital of the Kings’ Daughters,” says Bashay.
“Most recently I served as a Director of Patient Care Services and Business Development for Sentara CarePlex Hospital in Hampton Virginia for the last 15 years. Within the community, I was an Honorary Member on the Healthy Families Partnership Board of Directors, a Community Council member on the Smart Beginnings Virginia Peninsula Awareness Project, and served on the Board of Directors for the Lackey Free Clinic and the Natasha House for Homeless women.”
Outside of her impressive professional accomplishments, Bashay boasts a formidable resume of educational achievements as well.
“I am a graduate of Marymount University, Class of 1983,” says Bashay. “There, I obtained my Associate of Science in Nursing. Shortly after graduating, I returned to Marymount to complete my Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1986. In 2007, I completed my Master of Science in Human Resources Management from Troy University and completed and received a certificate from the Virginia Peninsula Chamber of Commerce Leadership Institute. In 2016 earned my Nurse Executive Certification.”
Coming from metropolitan areas like Washington D.C. and Hampton/Norfolk, life in Halifax County is a change of pace for Bashay.
“We have chosen to live in the Town of Halifax and my husband and I both feel more relaxed already,” says Bashay. “We love RV-ing and spending time in nature. This is a great area for us to enjoy our hobbies.”
Ultimately, Bashay hopes that her move to Sentara Halifax Regional Hospital will further her personal and professional goals of providing excellent, high-quality patient care to those who need it most.
“Customer service and quality care are what I strive for,” says Bashay. “I am customer focused and quality driven. I want Sentara Halifax Regional Hospital to be the hospital of choice for those in this community and the surrounding areas. Patients have a choice and I want them to choose Sentara because they trust that we will provide quality, safe customer-focused care every time,” Bashay continued. “I love what I do every day and I’m so happy that I get to do it for the Halifax/Mecklenburg communities.”
