Sentara RMH Medical Center held a site dedication and groundbreaking ceremony June 23 for the new Sentara Timber Way Health Center. Attending the ceremony were administrators from the hospital and the Sentara RMH Medical Group along with officials from Timberville, Broadway and Rockingham County.

The free-standing 13,577-square-foot facility will be home to the physicians and staff members of Timberville Health Care and Springbrook Family Medicine in Broadway. The center will also offer X-ray, laboratory and rehabilitation services.

"After Sentara RMH Medical Group acquired the Timberville Clinic in 2012, it became clear a larger clinic was needed in the northwest section of Rockingham County," said John McGowan, M.D., president of Sentara RMH Medical Group. "Neither of the clinics in Timberville and Broadway could meet the needs of the patients served in that area, so a new clinic was requested and approved by Sentara Healthcare and the Sentara RMH Board of Directors. We’re pleased to have this project get underway."

According to Sentara RMH Medical Center President Jim Krauss, the project is "strongly supported" by Sentara.

"It’s very important to Sentara RMH to do what we can to best ensure access to quality health care for our surrounding community," Krauss said. "We’re pleased that through our partnership with Sentara Healthcare, we can do more for the community than we would have been able to do on our own."

The center’s architect is Innovate Architecture and Interiors of Portsmouth, and the general contractor is Lantz Construction of Broadway. The project is expected to be completed in late January 2016.
