SNVMC NAMES NEW VICE PRESIDENT OF OPERATIONS

Christina “Christy” Grabus has been hired as Vice President of Operations for Sentara Northern Virginia Medical Center (SNVMC.) Grabus started on July 31st. She comes to Sentara with 29-years of healthcare experience. Most recently she was the Chief Nursing Officer for Novant Health UVA Health System Prince William Medical Center. Before that, she was the CNO at Novant Health Thomasville Medical Center. Grabus says she’s looking forward to being part of the team, and believes her experience as CNO helped prepare her for this position.

“My goal is to make sure that team members have the resources and support to be successful. At the end of the day, being successful mean we’re taking care of patients, they’re happy and have a positive experience. It’s just that simple to me,” says Grabus.

Grabus says she knew from an early age she wanted to help others. She believes building relationships is the key, to not only being a successful team, but also building positive patient outcomes.

The Kansas native, spent the majority of her career in North Carolina, where she started as a nurse in orthopedics at Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center. She was there for 19-years where her responsibilities evolved and grew. But, Grabus says for her, the mission remains the same:

“I’m passionate about healthcare, and health in general. I want to make sure that people succeed. I have an open door policy and I want people to be able to take advantage of that and feel supported,” she explains.

Grabus received her Associates Degree in nursing from Wilkes Community College, her BSN from Winston-Salem State and her MBA/MHA from Pfeiffer University. When she’s not at the hospital, Grabus, who’s married with two grown children, says she enjoys reading and spending time on the family’s pontoon boat, “Fret Knot.”
