SWRMC earns five-star rating from CMS
Sentara Williamsburg Regional Medical Center recently earned an elite five-star quality rating from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). Ranging from one to five stars, the ratings are based on 57 quality measures in seven categories including safety of care, patient experience and effectiveness of care, among others. Only 83, or approximately two percent, of the 3,629 hospitals CMS reviewed received the five-star rating.
“Our top priority is to provide the highest quality of care in the safest environment possible for our patients,” said David Masterson, president, Sentara Williamsburg Regional Medical Center. “We are proud to be recognized as one of the very few hospitals that earned the highest ranking possible and it reflects the absolute commitment of our physicians, nurses and staff to improve health every day."
These new overall ratings supplement the current star ratings posted for hospitals that are based on patient experience survey data. CMS has posted patient survey summary star ratings since April, 2015.
