Dr. Steve Julian
Steve Julian, M.D., MBA, is president of Sentara Obici Hospital in Suffolk, Virginia and its subsidiaries Sentara BelleHarbour in Suffolk and Sentara St. Luke’s in Isle of Wight County.
Sentara Obici Hospital is a 186-bed acute-care hospital and is one of 12 nonprofit hospitals owned by Sentara Healthcare in eastern and central Virginia and northeastern North Carolina. Sentara BelleHarbour is a 165,000 square foot outpatient healthcare facility in North Suffolk providing ambulatory imaging, physical therapy, laboratory services, emergency medical services and physician practices including primary care, orthopedics, cardiology, vascular and general surgery. Sentara St. Luke’s is a 52,000 square foot facility in Carrollton providing imaging services, laboratory services, as well as urgent care, OBGYN and primary care physician services.
Dr. Julian served as president of the medical staff of Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury, Md., and was a staff thoracic and vascular surgeon with CV Surgical Associates for 17 years prior to joining Sentara Healthcare in an administrative role. Prior to that he was a clinical instructor of surgery at Wake Forest University Medical Center in Winston-Salem, N.C. He has been with Sentara Healthcare for 9 years.
Dr. Julian received a MBA from the University of Massachusetts in 2009. His surgical training was obtained from 1982 to 1990 at Wake Forest University Medical Center. He graduated from the Medical College of Virginia of Virginia Commonwealth University in 1982 with a M.D. degree and earned a BS in Biology from Virginia Tech in 1978.
Dr. Julian has current American Board of Specialties certifications in Thoracic and General Surgery as well as Surgical Critical Care. He is a licensed physician in Virginia and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
Dr. Julian and his wife Sharan reside in Carrollton and are originally from Lynchburg, Virginia. They have a daughter, Tyler, who is a special education teacher with the Chesterfield Virginia County schools.
