Introducing Sentara Pratt Medical Group
Sentara Healthcare and Fredericksburg-based Pratt Medical Center announced today that they have finalized a partnership agreement. This integration brings together the oldest and largest multi-specialty group serving the greater Fredericksburg area with Virginia’s largest integrated health system.
"Sentara and Pratt share a common commitment to improving the quality of health care in their communities," said Stephen D. Porter, corporate vice president, Sentara Healthcare. "The more we discussed a partnership, the more our natural fit became apparent, with both cultures focused on quality, innovation and a commitment to placing the patient at the center of all we do."
Sentara Healthcare operates more than 100 sites of care, including 12 not-for-profit hospitals, four medical groups and multiple imaging centers throughout Virginia and northeastern North Carolina.
Pratt Medical Center serves approximately 66,000 patients through its seven locations across the Fredericksburg, Stafford, King George and Dahlgren areas. Pratt leadership issued a request for proposal in early 2014 to evaluate potential healthcare partners and selected Sentara Healthcare as the sole potential partner in July 2014.
"Pratt and Sentara have great mutual respect for what each has done in the communities they serve," said Dr. Scott Walker, president of Pratt Medical Center. "Our decision to join Sentara was based on the strong alignment in our missions and a shared vision for the future of medicine and care for our communities and employees."
As part of this new partnership, nearly 40 multi-specialty providers have joined Sentara Medical Group under the new name Sentara Pratt Medical Group.
"Sentara Medical Group providers are dedicated to quality and actively work to test new care delivery models and technologies," said Dr. Doug Culling, president of Sentara Medical Group. "We are confident that the talented providers of Pratt Medical Center will help us realize our commitments to greater access, more convenience and better coordination across the continuum of care."
Pratt Medical Center will also bring an additional imaging center into the Sentara Healthcare network.
