Sentara Norfolk General Hospital is named among the nation’s leading hospitals in the 2013 Leapfrog Top Hospitals rating, recognizing performance in key quality and safety measures.

Hospitals named in the 2013 listing demonstrate outstanding performance in three areas: use of electronic health records to reduce errors, performance on high risk, complex procedures and appropriate nursing and physician staffing.

The 2013 listing is a quality rating and requires an “A” Safety rating by Leapfrog at the time of the announcement. Sentara Norfolk General Hospital was named from among the 1,324 hospitals which participated in the Leapfrog Annual survey and is among 55 urban hospitals in the U.S. honored.

In Virginia, Sentara Norfolk General is one of two hospitals named to the listing.
