Three new heart specialists join the Peninsula
Two doctors and a physician assistant join Sentara Cardiology Specialists to provide heart services in Williamsburg, Gloucester, and Newport News
Conveniently located on the campus of Sentara Williamsburg Regional Medical Center, Stephen Hunley, M.D., Kerry Prewitt, M.D., and Christina Hunley, PA-C, join the Sentara Cardiology Specialists team to provide comprehensive and personalized cardiac care for the community.
Stephen Hunley, M.D., Cardiology Dr. Stephen Hunley is an experienced cardiologist that is fellowship trained in interventional cardiology – a branch of cardiology that deals specifically with the catheter-based treatment of coronary artery disease. His interests also include nuclear cardiology, which involves the use of imaging processes and radioactive substances to diagnose heart disease. A graduate of the University of Kentucky College of Medicine, Hunley is board-certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine as well as serves in the American College of Cardiology and Society of Nuclear Cardiology, among others.
Kerry Prewitt, M.D., Cardiology Dr. Kerry Prewitt specializes in interventional cardiology and peripheral vascular intervention. He diagnoses and treats heart and blood vessel conditions that are known to contribute to heart disease, including coronary artery disease, heart arrhythmia, high blood pressure and peripheral arterial disease. Prewitt, an alumnus of the Emory University School of Medicine, participates in a number of medical societies and is board-certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease, and interventional cardiology by the American Board of Internal Medicine as well as in endovascular medicine by the American Board of Vascular Medicine.
Christina Hunley, PA-C, Cardiology Christina Hunley works with the Sentara Cardiology Specialists team and supports the cardiologists in caring for patients both in the hospital and in the physician offices. She is specially trained to perform physical exams, supervise stress tests, order and interpret the results of cardiac testing, diagnose cardiac disease, and formulate individualized treatment plans for her patients. Hunley is focused on treating cardiovascular disease, as well as heart failure and electrical disorders of the heart – and as a native of Williamsburg, she is deeply committed to the community and its residents.
