This one day event is a comprehensive symposium that offers top‐quality education and a forum to speak directly with expert faculty. Program will offer a critical analysis of the current state of knowledge in the field of Pulmonary Hypertension. This symposium will increase physician clinical knowledge of the characteristics of Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension and its underlying diseases. Physicians will be better prepared to prescribe strategies that optimize screening and early detection of PAH, contributing to the prevention and/or slow down of disease progression.

Target Audience: Designed for physicians in the medical specialties of pulmonary medicine, critical care, infectious disease, internal medicine and family practice.  It will also be of interest to respiratory care practitioners, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nurses and other allied health care professionals interested in pulmonary medicine.

Course Objectives:

After completing this activity, participants should be better able to:

  • Identify signs, symptoms and risk factors associated with PAH to facilitate timely referral of patients.
  • Describe diagnostic tests used to identify patients with PAH.
  • Implement a more rapid and multidisciplinary approach to earlier detection of PAH.
  • Describe the pharmacologic management of PAH patients.
  • Discuss future advancement of care in pulmonary hypertension.

Virginia Board of Medicine
Physicians may claim up to 6.50 in Type 1 or Type 2 CME on the Virginia Board of Medicine Continued Competency and Assessment Form required for the renewal of an active medical license.

ABIM MOC Statement
Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the participant to earn up to 6.50 MOC points in the American Board of Internal Medicine's (ABIM) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program. Participants will earn MOC points equivalent to the amount of CME credits claimed for the activity. It is the CME activity provider's responsibility to submit participant completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABIM MOC credit.
