Preoperative Joint Camp: Preparing for Joint Replacement

This class is designed to cover all aspects of joint replacement.

Class Objectives:

1. Review process of getting ready for surgery
2. Identify components of prosthesis
3. Discuss hospital stay
4. Meet with Physical Therapy & Occupational Therapy
5. Discuss the prevention of potential complications
6. Discuss post-operative pain management
7. Identify discharge planning options

You will meet various members of the team that will be involved in your care after surgery. You will be given instructions regarding the pre-operative showers that are required to prevent infection. The Skin cleanser (4% Chlorhexidine solution) will be provided at class.

Please arrive 10-15 minutes early. Your Instructor will meet the class attendees at the Main Hospital in the main lobby by the grand piano (just past the gift shop), but classes are held in the Seale conference room.

Check in at the main lobby desk if you are late. They will accompany you to the Seale conference room on the second floor.
