This one day conference is designed to enhance and broaden the knowledge base and capabilities of the advanced clinical provider community in our area in order to deliver the best care possible to our patients in an integrated team based model.  Topics to be included are: Opioid Abuse, Approaches to the use of Evidence-Based Medicine in Daily Practice, Heart Disease Reversal, Interpreting Lab Work, Mental Health, Reducing Readmissions, and other new SMG programs such as the Women’s Health Cardiology Clinic. 

Schedule: Breakfast and registration will begin at 7:30 a.m.

Target Audience: SMG Employed Advanced Practice Clinicians to include, PAs, NPs, CRNAs, and Clinical Pharmacists.  Closed to outside practitioners.

Course Objectives
After completing this activity, participants should be better able to:

  • Identify the challenges of prescribing opioid and non-opioid prescriptions for pain management, and treating the patient with an opioid addiction.
  • Apply evidence-based medicine to daily activities for managing patient’s health.
  • Demonstrate how to apply systems-based practices for enhancing patient discharges and reducing readmissions.
  • Recognize new services available across the Sentara system that will benefit patients.

Sentara Healthcare is accredited by the Medical Society of Virginia (MSV) to provide continuing medical education for the physicians.

Credit Designation
Sentara Healthcare designates this live activity for a maximum of six (6.00) AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Virginia Board of Medicine
Physicians may claim up to six (6.00) in Type 1 or Type 2 CME on the Virginia Board of Medicine Continued Competency and Assessment Form required for the renewal of an active medical license.
