PROGRAM OVERVIEW
This half-day conference will update primary care providers on ordering the optimum imaging exams, with an update on various modalities available for diagnostic use, and review the appropriate and cost-effective imaging algorithm for many common outpatient conditions. This program is primarily designed to refine the ordering of diagnostic imaging studies for enhanced quality of care and effective use of radiology. Proposed topics to be covered are CT Lung Screening, Breast Imaging Updates, Radiation Safety, Contrast vs No-Contrast, and Medicare mandated Clinical Decision Support.

PROGRAM OBJECTIVES
Upon the completion of this live activity, participants should be able to:

  1. Critically review and analyze evidenced-based guidelines to select appropriate diagnostic imaging studies for common and important clinical conditions.
  2. Identify specific indications for new or uncommon imaging tests.
  3. Clarify the various screening guidelines for breast cancer.
  4. Review the guidelines for referring eligible patients into the CT Lung Cancer Screening program.
  5. Differentiate between ordering imaging with or without contrast.
  6. Illustrate recent advances in imaging.

VIRGINIA BOARD OF MEDICINE
Physicians may claim up to four (4.00) in Type 1 or Type 2 CME on the Virginia Board of Medicine Continued Competency and Assessment Form required for the renewal of an active medical license.

AMERICAN BOARD OF INTERNAL MEDICINE
Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the participant to earn up to 4.00 MOC points in the American Board of Internal Medicine’s (ABIM) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program.  Participants will earn MOC points equivalent to the amount of CME Credits claimed for the activity.  It is the CME activity provider’s responsibility to submit participant completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABIM MOC credit.
