Dr. Bridget Brown, dental director at Halifax Regional Dental Clinic, presented a successful Health Nite Out entitled, "Little Teeth, Big Smiles" on Thursday, July 17. Both parents and children were encouraged to attend and participating children ranged in age from 11 months to 10-years-old. Parents and children learned about preventing cavities, baby teeth and permanent teeth, good snacks versus bad snacks and proper brushing and flossing techniques.

Halifax Regional Dental Clinic has been in operation since Feb. 1, 2013. The clinic was built as a partnership with the generous support of the Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development, the Virginia Tobacco Commission and other partnering organizations. The clinic currently has two dentists, Dr. Brown and Dr. Trisstar Oliver, who joined the practice July 7.

Continued operating support for the two dentists is provided by the Virginia Health Care Foundation, which funds safety net and community medical and dental services throughout the Commonwealth. Halifax Regional Dental Clinic hopes to reach out to more than 2,400 children when it is running at full capacity. The clinic is currently accepting new pediatric patients.
