Sentara Halifax Regional Hospital honored six new physicians and six advanced practice clinicians during the recent new physician reception October 29 at The Prizery.

Sentara Halifax Regional Hospital honored six new physicians and six advanced practice clinicians during the recent new physician reception Oct. 29 at The Prizery. This group of medical professionals joined Sentara Halifax Regional Hospital’s medical staff during 2015, and the event provides an opportunity for them to meet community leaders from Halifax, Mecklenburg and Charlotte counties.

“We are extremely pleased to welcome these new physicians and talented medical professionals to our medical staff. We are honored to add their expertise to the services we offer our patients and their families,” said Sentara Halifax Regional Hospital President Chris A. Lumsden. “We extend our warmest greetings and we hope they will take advantage of all the great things that South Boston, Halifax County and Southern Virginia have to offer.”

Lumsden thanked members of the board of directors and all the providers for supporting the hospital’s recruitment efforts. Grey Watson, practice operations manager for Sentara Dominion Health Medical Associates, introduced each of the new providers and recognized their families.

Those physicians who have joined the Sentara Halifax Regional Hospital medical staff during the past year include:

  • Dr. Rachael Burton, Sentara Clarksville Family Medicine
  • Dr. Dalia Khalifa, Sentara Halifax Pediatrics
  • Dr. Anne Lombardi, Sentara Halifax Pediatrics
  • Dr. Fallon Mattis, Sentara Halifax Family Medicine
  • Dr. Aura Urquia-Robles, Sentara Chase City Family Medicine
  • Dr. Larry Winikur, pain management

The two physician assistants who have joined Sentara Halifax Emergency Physicians are:

  • Courtney Capstack, PA
  • Bradley Henningsgaard, PA

Family nurse practitioner Candice Bruce and David Warden have joined Sentara Halifax Family Medicine, while Kelly Smith, FNP has joined Sentara Southside Hematology & Oncology and Tony Wilkerson, FNP has joined Halifax Heart Center.

Also recognized during the reception were students from the Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine (VCOM) who are completing rotations with many of the physicians on the medical staff. Those students include:
