Matthew S. Angelelli, M.D.
Dr. Angelelli began his career as a psychiatrist for the Hampton Newport News Community Services Board where he covered the regional crisis stabilization unit for more than seven years and developed formulary to ensure all patients were able to receive medications. Simultaneously, Dr. Angelelli served as a psychiatrist for the Community Resource Center and for the Program for Assertive Community Treatment, programs which engage the most severely mentally ill in the community, as well as a psychiatric consultant for two local general hospitals, including Sentara CarePlex Hospital.
Dr. Angelelli joined Sentara in 2008 and currently serves as the chief of psychiatry for Sentara Medical Group and the chief of behavioral health for the 12-hospital health system. He is also the clerkship supervisor in psychiatric medicine at Eastern Virginia Medical School.
