If you are spending time with us, regardless of how long, we want your visit to be as comfortable as possible. The following resources are available at Sentara CarePlex Hospital if you need support or additional assistance while visiting with us.


Chaplaincy services are available for patients, families, physicians, and staff at Sentara CarePlex Hospital 24 hours a day, seven days a week. During normal business hours, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., the manager generally may be reached at 757-736-1201757-736-1201. However, for all routine and emergency after-hours pastoral care, contact the Communications Center at 757-736-1000757-736-1000 to have the appropriate chaplain paged.

The Chapel and a secondary Chaplaincy Services office is located on the first floor, adjacent to the main lobby, directly in front of the Imaging Department.

Sentara CarePlex Hospital offers assistance for patients with limited English proficiency and patients who are hearing impaired. Please advise your nurse if you need assistance and they will contact the hospital's patient advocate or nursing supervisor.

Sentara CarePlex Hospital has approximately 250 volunteers including 60 Junior volunteers from the community. Volunteers are active in hospital patient care areas, gift shop, medical records, security, and numerous other hospital areas. In addition to coordinating large fundraising events benefiting Sentara CarePlex Hospital, volunteers provide complimentary daily newspapers to hospitalized patients.
