ERGYS II Bike for Spinal Cord Injury

The ERGYS II is a specially designed stationary bike using low-level electrical stimulation to allow patients with little or no voluntary leg movement to actively pedal a bike. Electrical impulses cause coordinated contraction of the patient’s thigh, hamstring and gluteal muscles that power the bike. Sensors provide constant feedback to a computer that controls the sequence of muscle contractions and pedaling resistance.
