Bryant receives inaugural RMH golden heart award

Rmh Hospice Award

Jennifer Bryant, ACNP-BC, has been awarded RMH’s inaugural Golden Heart Award.

The Golden Heart Award recognizes outstanding nurse practitioners and physician assistants who demonstrate excellence in patient care, customer service, communication and team work.

Bryant cares for patients in Sentara Hospice and RMH Palliative Care.

“I am honored to be the first recipient of the RMH Golden Heart award,” Bryant said. “One of the factors that drew me to practice at RMH is the culture of compassion that can be felt in all areas of patient care. I feel especially fortunate to be a part of the palliative care and hospice team and to know that we make a difference every day in the lives of patients and their families.”

Nominations for the award were submitted by RMH staff and physicians. One RMH staff member nomination said Bryant “should be the poster child for the Golden Heart award. Jenn is a calming force on the most hectic of days. ... Our patients are always appreciative of the care that Jenn gives them and she never fails to give them kind, respectful and complete care. She is the perfect addition to a fabulous palliative care team.”

The Golden Heart award will be presented to Bryant by RMH Chief of Staff Harold Jenkins, M.D., on Dec. 10.

“Jennifer is a caring and compassionate advocate for her patients,” Dr. Jenkins said. “Knowledgeable and intuitive, she’s an exemplary member of the RMH team.”

Bryant has a master of science in nursing degree as an acute care nurse practitioner from the University of Virginia. She joined the RMH Medical Staff in 2012.
