Edward A. Sandy II, M.D., MBA, has been named president of the Sentara RMH Medical Group, a multi-specialty group of physicians and advanced practice providers providing care at 23 clinical sites in Rockingham, Page, Shenandoah and Augusta counties as well as Sentara RMH in Harrisonburg.

Edward A. Sandy II, M.D., MBA, has been named president of the Sentara RMH Medical Group, a multi-specialty group of physicians and advanced practice providers providing care at 23 clinical sites in Rockingham, Page, Shenandoah and Augusta counties as well as Sentara RMH in Harrisonburg.

Dr. Sandy also serves as chair of the Sentara RMH Medical Group board of directors and is a member of the Sentara RMH Medical Center’s senior leadership team. Dr. Sandy was selected after a nationwide search.

“I am excited to be back in the Valley, and honored to be selected for this position,” said Dr. Sandy, who was born at RMH and raised in Timberville. “This is an opportunity to work with a successful multi-specialty group that plays a key role in the care of residents of the Shenandoah Valley and is also an integral part of a top-tier healthcare delivery system.”

Before joining Sentara RMH, Dr. Sandy served as associate professor and vice chair of community practices in the department of obstetrics, gynecology and reproductive sciences of the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and Magee-Women’s Hospital of the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.

Dr. Sandy is a graduate of Eastern Mennonite University, Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, Va., and the Raymond J. Harbert College of Business at Auburn University. He completed post-graduate studies in obstetrics and gynecology at the Ohio State University Hospitals and Clinics in Columbus, Ohio.
