Sentara CarePlex Hospital names new president
Sentara CarePlex Hospital has named Kirkpatrick (Kapua) Conley as its new President, effective April 9. Conley previously served as the Chief Operations Officer of Tri-City Medical Center in San Diego, California. In this role, he was responsible for the performance of the 388-bed hospital, a facility that experiences more than 70,000 emergency room visits, 6,600 surgeries and 2,600 deliveries annually. Prior to joining Tri-City Medical Center, Conley served as the Chief Executive Officer for two hospitals, and with MD Anderson Cancer Center in Texas as the Administrator for a large and comprehensive multidisciplinary ambulatory cancer center.

Conley received his Bachelor of Science in Management from the A.B. Freeman Business School of Tulane University and his Master of Health Administration from the Tulane School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine. He completed his Administrative Fellowship at University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center.

Sentara CarePlex Hospital is a 224-bed hospital that offers advanced surgical programs, emergency cardiac intervention and fellowship-trained physicians. Additionally, it is a Certified Primary Stroke Center, is home to the Orthopaedic Hospital at Sentara CarePlex Hospital – the area’s first dedicated orthopedic hospital, and recently achieved Magnet Excellence®. Sentara CarePlex Hospital also introduced maternity services in January, 2018.
